嶺南大學荷蒙黃浩川博士慷慨捐助嶺南大學發展經費，為誌義舉，嶺南大學將本宿舍名為黃浩川堂。

 

       黃浩川博士祖籍廣 東省台山，是熱愛教育及社會公益事業之慈善家和企業家。黃博士乃港粵著名殷商，除秉承父業外，更 於一九七二年創 立浩華有限公司。他曾就讀嶺南小學香港分校和廣州嶺南中學，畢業後在嶺南大學商學院深造。黃博士對嶺南教育事業貢獻良多，二次大戰後代嶺南 小學香港分校還債救校，並長期出任嶺南中、小學校校董，更於嶺南教育機構成立後先後出任校董、副主席、籌款委員會成員等職。黃博士關心母校發展，慷慨資助 嶺南大學舊校興建教職員宿舍、屯門新校興建行政大樓和學生宿舍，並設立了宿舍獎學金及莘莘學子。

 

 

       WONG HOO CHUEN HALL in appreciation of the generous donation of Dr Wong Hoo chuen towards Lingnan University Development Fund.

 

       Born in Taishan, Guangdong Province, China, Dr Wong Hoo Chuen is a renowned philanthropist and enterpreneur who endeavours to support education and community services. A reputable businessman in Hong Kong and Guangdong, Dr Wong did not only succeed his father's business but he also set up his own enterprise, Hoo Wah Company Limited, in 1972.

 

       Dr Wong attended Lingnan Primary School in Hong Kong and Middle School in Guangzhou; and then pursued further studies at the Faculty of Business of Lingnan University. The contributions Dr wong has made towards Lingnan's educational enterprise are amply demonstrable.

 

       After the Second World War, he volunteered to repay the debt for Lingnan Primary School so that its school premises could be retained. Apart from serving on the Board of Governors of Lingnan schools for years, he has served as Member and Vice-Chairman of the Dr Wong has made huge donations to subsidize the construction of staff quarters in the old campus as well as the administration building and a student hostel in the Tuen Mun new campus. He has also set up hostel bursaries to help needy students.
